Pilgrimage Leaders
Dr. Tom Jones (Program Director/Faculty) Professor of Christian Ministries and Director of Supervised Ministerial Experience Professor Tom Jones, veteran church planter and pastor for over twenty years, came to Emmanuel School of Religion in 1999 to multiply his efforts and influence and to reinforce Emmanuel's longstanding commitment to leadership development in the local church. Professor Jones is a widely sought after new church development coach, consultant, assessor, seminar leader and teacher, and mentor. He has trained pastors across several denominations. Dr. Jones has served as the primary leader of the Pastoral Pilgrimage Staff. He can be reached via our contact page or 423-461-1507.
Timothy Ross (Spiritual Director) Tim has ministered at the Hopwood Christian Church at Milligan College, TN for eleven years. He served previously as a youth minister, campus minister, and as a missionary among the Maasai of Kenya. Tim has broad experience in spiritual formation, direction, pastoral care, and counseling. Tim will oversee all formational aspects of the Pilgrimage, with assistance from the rest of the staff team. Tim served as spiritual director of last year's pilgrimage. Tim and Marcia have four children.
Dr. Paul Blowers (Emmanuel School of Religion Faculty Representative) Paul Blowers joined the Emmanuel faculty in 1989. He is currently the Dean E. Walker Professor of Church History. Educated as a historian of early and Byzantine Christianity, he has particular interests in the history of biblical interpretation and in the theological and spiritual
tradition of the Eastern churches. He also teaches courses and conducts research in the Stone-Campbell heritage.
Before coming to Emmanuel, Paul served an associate ministry in Lafayette, Indiana,
and was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Theology at the University of Notre
Dame. Beyond the classroom, he enjoys travel, jogging the pleasant Appalachian
foothills around his home, and, most of all, the company of his wife, Sandy, daughter, Leslie, and son, Colin. Dr. Blowers will serve as faculty for the pilgrimage,
providing teaching and expert technical and historical knowledge of biblical
resources and lands.
David Cauble (Associate Director and Support) David will provide administrative, technical, and other support for the Pilgrimage. David Cauble was born and raised in LaGrange, Georgia. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction. He interned the following year at Tech's Christian Campus Fellowship where he worked with small groups, outreach, and graduate students. David earned his Master of Divinity degree from Emmanuel School of Religion in May 2007. David, his wife, Yi and son, Zimri, are now living in Tallahassee, Florida where David ministers in the areas of spiritual formation and administration at Crossbridge Christian Church.
